Seed Mix up: Mistaken Identity

Hi Folks,

Do you see the teeny tiny watermelons (yes, they're watermelons) on those very cute, custom made shelves?

Grandpa (my father, Bob), had planted seeds he thought were cucumber. He planted them in very narrow boxes that hug the side of our garden.

As the season progressed, low and behold, cucs didn't appear but little watemelons. Now they need space. So Granpa built shelves for them. What do you think?

But, since this picture was taken, we've discovered these little watermelons are starting to rot. Maybe they're not happy on these little shelves.

First Home Grown Watermelon!

Check it out! Our first full-size watermelon. It just kinda peacefully and quietly grew all on its own. We gave it the space and time it needed. And then, one day--wow!--here's this big watermelon.

Rotting Watermelons

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know why our watermelons are rotting?  They have developed a black surface at one end and then take over the whole thing.  Not all of them are suffering this ailment, so I'd like to know what is causing this to prevent it on the other ones.

They are two different kinds of watermelon.  One is 'sugar babies' and the other is 'orange glow'.  Any ideas?

Tomato pruning

Hi all,
I just found out about this video about pruning tomatoes which I thought would be interesting for all who don't know about these things (such as I)  It is from an interesting web site of a local (CT) woman.

I have six blueberry bushes that I bought a few years ago that are just now starting to look bushy. Three of them, however, have never flowered. I thought blueberry bushes would pollinate themselves since the other three are obviously female and produce fruit. I'm not sure what to do with these non-producing bushes now...?
